Choosing The Right Natural Wood Flooring For Your Home
Friday, June 26th, 2009    Subscribe To Our FeedIf you’re lucky enough to have natural wood floors in your home, it’s normally the first thing that attracts a guest’s attention. Whenever anyone sets foot inside your house, she will probably notice what kind of flooring you have. It’s as important as your wall coverings and ceiling. Choosing the correct laminate timber floors for your home may seem like an overwhelming choice to make. It requires studious thinking, as you would like to display your personality and panache while being practical.
With a huge selection of laminate wooden flooring available to choose from, it may seem like a difficult decision to make. You may like all the ones you see at Home Depot or wherever you shop, and all of them may seem just right for your home. But now, the question of which type to choose arises. The answer to this question depends on many things. You should consider the size of your family and hence, what volume of traffic the floor will receive. Also ask yourself ‘will the floor be safe for my children?’. Another question you should ask yourself is ‘How much maintenance does natural hardwood flooring require and how long do you expect to have the same floor?’
In this day and age, different designs and types of natural hardwood floors are available for different applications. Home owners may think of using the same type of laminate timber flooring in all areas of the house, but some have their preferences for each room.
Natural wooden floors are extremely durable and do not require much maintenance. They are beautiful and are resistant to heat.
Laminate wooden floors are long lasting, require simple cleaning and don’t tend to retain dust particles. They’re often found in older homes and work naturally well with many interior design plans. However, they do require semi-frequent vacuuming and polishing. Although engineered timber flooring doesn’t retain dirt particles, the softer wood floors are prone to scratches and dents. Two common types of wood flooring are the natural and synthetic wood.
Natural wood floors come in several different styles and patterns. Parquet square is the most common type. It comes in square boards that come together to form its pattern. The big advantage to using parquet square is that the individual tiles are replaceable. Yet another type of natural wood flooring is the plank which gives a classic and classy look to the flooring. Although plank flooring does not require sub flooring, they are more costly that other wood floors. Strip floor is another kind of natural wood floor. These are long and narrow boards that are prone to buckling. Thus, sub flooring is highly recommended.
Laminate flooring is another common type of synthetic wood. This type of flooring works very well in areas exposed to moisture. Laminate floors do not require finishing. The good thing about laminated floors is that they are generally fire resistant and do not fade nor stain.
Indeed, careful investigation is required in order to make a final decision as to which type of flooring is best suited for your home or office. Anyhow, after the flooring of your choice is installed, you will definitely be pleased to realize that it’s the surface you, your kids, family and friends will be standing and walking on for years to come.
