Choosing The Best Bathroom Faucets
Tuesday, July 14th, 2009    Subscribe To Our FeedThe bathroom is probably one of the most used yet personal rooms within the house. When re-designing or re-building the bathroom you should not overlook any detail in order to get the style and design that is going to keep you very happy for years to come.
One important detail that can make or break the look of the bathroom is the faucets. There are so many different options which can be very overwhelming. It is vital that faucets are chosen which are in keeping with the overall look and style. They come in many different materials from gold to stainless steel.
One of the most opulent materials for faucets is gold. These are usually used in luxurious and opulent bathrooms, often combined with marble vanities and sinks. It is important that all the other features match the same luxury such as the tiles and vanities otherwise they will look out of place. Most gold faucets are actually gold plated but still usually expensive.
Stainless steel faucets are probably one of the most common types and are suited to the modern, fresh, clean, crisp looking room. One of the biggest advantages of stainless is that it is cheap and does not tarnish or corrode, although if you live in an area supplied by hard water then they will still need to be regularly maintained and cleaned with a limescale remover.
Brass Faucets are great for a bathroom that is going for a more traditional appearance and can give an antiquated look to a room. One of the biggest problems with this material is that it can rust and tarnish and, therefore, have to be cleaned on a regular basis. They can be purchased with a clear lacquer coating which protects the surface and therefore requires less maintenance.
Brass faucets are more often plated in a layer of chrome to give a durable and attractive finish. Like stainless steel these are more often than not suited to the modern looking bathroom. The surface is tough and very resistant to scratching although they are quite susceptible to water spots and so will, therefore, require regular maintenance.
When looking for faucets, going to show homes is a brilliant way to look at the types of faucets in their setting and give you a good idea how they are going to look. Another very easy method is to do a search online. This will show you the range of the designs available and is a very quick method of finding great bargains.
